WHY SHOULD YOUR WEIGHT LOSS STRATEGY BE MEDICALLY SUPERVISED?
Being overweight weighs on a person’s mind and heart every day. Advanced Pain Clinic integrative practitioners understand this as they strive to heal the root causes of excessive body fat by working not only to shed it, but to nurture every patient’s whole body to prevent it from returning.
They’re in such high demand because they’ve been trained by one of the country’s top integrative practitioners: Dr. James Robles.
One of the few doctors on the planet to attain 14 certifications at the world’s most progressive institutions—and is boarded with many of them—Dr. Robles is highly respected by the integrative medicine community because he begins any treatment from the premise that all of our biological systems work together, synergistically.
For example: hormone and nutritional deficiencies affect our musculoskeletal health, and our digestive system often dictates our emotional states. Dr. Robles strives to prevent all imbalances (including access body weight) by optimizing each patient’s metabolic and immunological state.
All those biological systems cannot be optimally managed without professional oversite.
Dr. Robles has trained a team of nutritionists and personal trainers who are just as determined as he is to employ evidence-based approaches to weight loss. He’s even built an athletic center where his patients can enjoy supervised exercise and moral support throughout their weight loss journey. Seeing hundreds of happy patients return to their ideal, healthy weight is his most rewarding accomplishment.
At Advanced Pain Relief Clinic, we’re not happy with our job until you’re happy with your weight.
WHAT WEIGHT LOSS METHODS DOES OUR TEAM HELP YOU MANAGE?
Dr. Robles realizes that losing weight is a complex, highly individualized process. Why? Because weight loss is not only a hormonal, biochemical issue. It entails psychological factors and requires nurturing and emotional support. No two people gain weight in quite the same way, and neither will they lose it in the same way.
Weight loss management requires patience for repetitive observation, perpetual education, and the compassionate grappling with emotional ups and downs. For a sensitive touch that treats the whole patient – it requires an Advanced Pain Clinic practitioner.
Dr. Robles’ team crafts custom plans to treat your unique weight loss requirements with one or more hands-on treatments: Viqua Health Wellness Program, FDA approved medications, and/or acupuncture sessions.
He examines and listens to his patients describe their lifestyles, struggles, and expectations before creating a treatment plan. As with any medical procedure, results of medically managed weight loss will vary depending on your age, genetics, lifestyle, environment, and other health conditions.
HEALTH WELLNESS PROGRAM
More than a diet, Vicqua Health Wellness is a lifestyle transformation. It doesn’t require counting calories or extreme workouts – instead, it relies on educating patients through scientific evidence, emotional connection, and spiritual purpose. Studies have shown this is a highly effective way to inspire lasting behavioral change that allows you to lose weight and keep it off.
Dr.Robles is a licensed Vicqua Health Wellness practitioner and has trained this entire staff on the holistic PLAN-EXECUTE-EVALUATE-REVISE steps that enable you to customize your transformation. The Vicqua 12 week program provides crucial lessons on:
- mindfulness and the biology of belief
- nature’s RX for oxidative stress
- making sense of food labels
- cardiovascular and flexible fitness
- nutrition and disease
- healthy food combinations and meal times
- healthy aging
CUSTOMIZED EXERCISE PROGRAM
Just as no one diet works for every individual, no exercise regimen enables calorie burning and muscle development for each patient in exactly the same way.
Dr. Robles takes a holistic approach with all weight loss patients. That’s why he has recruited a highly skilled team of nutritionists and built an athletic center where his patients can enjoy supervised exercise and moral support throughout their weight loss journey.
PHARMACEUTICALS
In some cases Dr. Robles uses the following pharmaceuticals to supplement a patient’s exercise routine, behavior change, and diet program. Patients must follow their regimen precisely and take the following medications only for the number of days prescribed, as these substances are addictive and can cause withdrawal symptoms.
Phentermine, Phendimetrazine, and Benzphetmine: these sympathomimetic amines are chemically related to amphetamines and may work by decreasing appetite, increasing the amount of energy used by your body; side effects include irregular heartbeat, uncontrolled muscle movements, agitation, and hallucinations
SUPPLEMENTS
Each patient responds differently to a variety of supplements that can help reduce the number of calories your body can absorb, or increase the amount of fat you burn. Dr. Robles’ team will help you choose the right supplements for your unique state of health and lifestyle.
Hydroxycut: one of the most popular weight loss supplements in the world; contains caffeine and plant extracts; side effects include: anxiety, jitteriness, tremors, nausea, diarrhea, and irritability
Caffeine: most commonly consumed psychoactive metabolism booster in the world; sources are quality coffee and green tea, which also have antioxidants and other health benefits; side effects include anxiety, insomnia, jitteriness, irritability, nausea, and diarrhea; reduced sleep quality
Conjugated Linoleic Acid: one of the "healthier" trans fats found naturally in some fatty animal foods like cheese and butter; boosts metabolism, stimulates breakdown of body fat; side effects can potentially contribute to fatty liver, insulin resistance and increased inflammation
Garcinia Cambogia Extract: the skin of the garcinia cambogia fruit contains hydroxycitric acid (HCA) which increase serotonin, potentially reducing cravings; may cause mild digestive problems
ACUPUNCTURE
Dr. Robles has been certified by the American Board of Medical Acupuncture in this 2,500-year-old Chinese medical practice and realizes that for many Americans, acupuncture can seem like a leap of faith. They often exclaim: how can those little hair-like needles help me lose weight?
Before offering the biochemical explanation, Dr. Robles reminds his skeptics that in 1997, after reviewing thousands of clinical studies, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) recommended acupuncture for a variety of conditions in their Acupuncture Consensus Statement.
In a study published in Acupuncture in Medicine, researchers found women who received acupuncture had decreased insulin and leptin levels and a decrease in body mass index (BMI) compared to the women who received sham acupuncture. These findings suggest that acupuncture may help to regulate weight by modulating hormones such as insulin, leptin, ghrelin and CCK in obese people.
These acupuncture points (which show up in different colors from surrounding tissue on infrared imaging photos) have high concentrations of nerve endings and bundles and lymphatics (they also have a lower electrical resistance than surrounding skin). These nerve fiber bundles travel from acupuncture points in the extremities to the spinal cord and through the spinal nerve column. There, they stimulate the brainstem and hypothalamus-pituitary gland, causing release of neurotransmitters like endorphins, norepinephrine, and encephalin which affect your appetite. When your mood is uplifted you’re less likely to seek fattening, non-nutritious so-called “comfort foods.”
