Fluoroscopy is a study of moving body structures - similar to an x-ray "movie." A continuous x-ray beam is passed through the body part being examined, and is transmitted to a TV-like monitor so that the body part and its motion can be seen in detail.
Vertebroplasty is a treatment procedure developed by interventional radiologists to stabilize broken bones in the spine caused by osteoporosis. In the procedure, a needle about the size of a cocktail straw is inserted through the skin and into the crushed vertebrae. A surgical bone cement is injected into the bone. The cement hardens, stabilizes the bone and prevents further collapse. This stops the pain caused by bone rubbing against bone. Often, more than one crushed vertebrae can be treated in a single procedure.
Radiofrequency (RF) lesioning is a safe proven means of interrupting pain signals. Radiofrequency current is used to heat up a small volume of nerve tissue, thereby interrupting pain signals from that specific area. Clinical data shows the Radiofrequency Lesioning can effectively provide lasting pain relief.
Acupuncture-related therapies consist of stimulating specific points on the skin by inserting needles or applying heat, pressure, or massage. Acupuncture usually is combined with a variety of other Eastern therapies, such as herbal treatments, food and nutrition therapy, exercise, and meditation. The thin, usually disposable, needles rarely draw blood, and any discomfort is mild.
Bleeding into the epidural space following surgery or leakage of disc material following breakage or a tear of a disc most commonly causes epidural scarring. Presumably, inflammation and compression of nerve roots by epidural scar (Adhesions) are the mechanism of persistent pain following back surgery, ruptured or herniated discs, or vertebral body fracture. Epidural scar may also contribute to the pain of spinal column metastatic carcinoma, failed facet joint syndrome, and unexplained neck or low back pain.
Chelation therapy is a medical treatment performed in a doctor's office that improves metabolic function and blood flow through blocked arteries throughout the body. This is accomplished by administering an amino acid, ethylene-diamine-tetra-acetic acid (EDTA), by an intravenous infusion using a small 25-gauge needle.
the use of ultrasound guided platelet rich plasma application techniques (PRP) in musculoskeletal medicine utilize the concentrated healing components of patients own blood-reintroduced- into a specific site to regenerate tissue and speed the healing process for acute and chronic pain.
Spinal stimulation has provided pain relief in people suffering from multiple sclerosis, low back pain, amputated limbs, herpes, and spinal cord injury. Candidates for spinal stimulation may undergo a period of trial stimulation before conversion to an implanted stimulator. The placement of the electrode is performed under local anesthesia and allows testing of its effectiveness during the procedure. Electrodes are placed over the back of the spinal cord and connected to a battery-powered pulse generator device that is placed under the skin. Recipients of spinal cord stimulators are educated on the use and programming of their device.
Mesotherapy is used to treat a broad spectrum of illnesses and pain conditions. It is also used to treat many skin conditions such as acne, cellulite, stretch marks, scars, wrinkles and spot reducing and contouring for areas of fat such as a double chin.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome occurs when the median nerve, one of the major nerves that provide innervation to the hand, is pinched in the carpal tunnel. The carpal tunnel is a narrow space on the palm side of the wrist. The "floor" of the tunnel is formed by the wrist bones; the roof is created by a tough piece of tissue called the flexor retinaculum.
Colon Hydrotherapy is a gentle and safe infusion of water into the colon through the rectum. Because no chemicals or drugs are used, the colon hydrotherapy is soothing and successful. Throughout colon hydrotherapy, the client lies on a customized table in total relaxation. A small disposable speculum is then gently introduced into the rectum where 25-30 gallons of warm, clean water enters into and out of the colon. A colon hydrotherapy session is equivalent to 20-30 regular bowel movements.
